In a nutshell, a reporter for a local newspaper was interrupted by a businesswoman while covering a rally of Republican congressman.

In the wake of that, the newspaper published a history of her driving license revoked for drunken driving based on her public records.

In retaliation, she had a judge issue a search warrant, saying the information had been obtained illegally.

And the newspaper could not be published for a while.

The mainstream media began reporting on the case.

Some new development.

The office of Marion County Record and its publisher's home were raided by the Marion Police Department, and computers for publication were confiscated, after a complaint was filed by a local businesswoman who had a dispute with the newspaper. It is said to be the cause of this raid.

However, Marion County Record had been investigating the current head of the Marion Police Department (who transferred from the Kansas City Police Department in April). Shortly after his arrival, he ceased the long-running publication of weekly police activity reports. The paper investigated this. As a result, the newspaper was apparently not well received by the police chief.
