#Keet for messaging, #ProtonMail, #GrayJay for streaming, #filen_io for cloud backup, #Obsidian for notes, Organic Maps
...and the ultimate degoogling will be #PostmarketOS
Hi everyone,
I feel like a re-introduction is long overdue!
My name is Anna, and I'm an assistant professor of Algorithmics at the Delft University of Technology, specialising in combinatorial optimisation, symbolic AI, constraint programming, propositional model counting, operations research and reasoning under uncertainty.
I'm a nerd, a feminist and a traveller, not always in that order.
In my spare time I like to hike and go geocaching. I try to go swing dancing a few times a week. I am a Trekkie. I want to learn how to draw. I am an Indomie and Obsidian enthusiast. Based in the Netherlands, I miss Belgium, Canada and Singapore.
Since a job in academia somehow always is personal, I have chosen to mix professional interactions with the more personal ones on this platform. At least for now. Obviously, my opinions do not necessarily reflect those of my employer yadiyadiyada.
Hope to keep interacting with you all!
@hejchristian tools have to fit your hand and #obsidian doesn’t fit mine for managing my day. It may not fit yours.
@hejchristian maybe you’ll find some interesting stuff in my vault template: https://github.com/nhoizey/obsidian-vault-template/blob/main/ObsidianVaultTemplate/README.md
Any Obsidian users on here written about how they use it? Please share so I can get inspired or try some approaches!
It's working really REALLY well for specific projects,
But I also want to use it to help manage my day to day too, and nothing is really clicking for me so far
Habe mir endlich ein digitales Bücherregal mit #obsidian gebaut. Obsidian ersetzt einfach so viele andere Tools…
A random #AskFedi for all the #Obsidian superusers out there: I would like to add a property to certain notes that keeps a count of the number of undone tasks it contains. I've found an inline Dataview script someone wrote that does the counting part, but I’m not finding a way to get that into a YAML property. (What I'm hoping to accomplish is to have a Base gathering all of my project files, and be able to see at a glance the number of undone tasks in each.)
You can put an #Obsidian base in a sidebar, and reference the current file
with #Obsidian Bases you can create embedded views that reference the current file — for example if I put my "Places" base inside Taipei I get only places I saved in Taipei
Introducing Bases, a new core plugin that lets you turn any set of notes into a powerful database. With Bases you can organize everything from projects to travel plans, reading lists, and more.
Bases are now available in #Obsidian 1.9.0 for early access users.

I’ve also realized that gmail is just kind if a mediocre product. The UI is clunky and the integration across account products, e.g. mail to calendar, sucks ass and can’t be easily modified. This has been my experience with most monolith services, but its taken me a while to realize that I don’t need them at all, as long as I can find a replacement host.
Looking for a way to manage a dynamic calendar across devices that isn’t google calendar, too. Maybe that can be done with #obsidian?
