Every year on May 15, Palestinians mark Nakba Day to commemorate the ethnic cleansing of Palestine upon the creation of the State of Israel in 1948.

Zionist forces expelled about 750,000 Palestinians from their homes and lands between 1947 and 1949, capturing 78 percent of historical Palestine.

Today, Palestinians and their supporters commemorate the Nakba – “catastrophe” in Arabic – with marches, protests and other events.

Monumental relief found in Nineveh palace – The History Blog
thehistoryblog.com/archives/73

"Dating to the around 645-635 B.C., the relief depicts the king and two major deities accompanied by other unidentified figures. The find is unprecedented both for its massive size and for the gods it depicts. No other depictions of the high deities Ashur and Ishtar have been found in any Assyrian palaces."

You can be against #antisemitism AND #zionism at the same time.

But as with being aware with what is happening in #Gaza, you need to be aware of why the #nazi talking point "Jews run the world economy" has a tiny slither of truth to it.

As always we have to look back at #history - and #economy, in and around #Europe to understand why that is. #Usury is key here, which is also the foundation of #capitalism.

Book Highlights Cats in Japanese Woodblock Prints

Cats been companions to people for centuries, but they've also served as creative muses for countless artists across the world. In Japan, felines have held particular importance ever since they arrived in the 6th century by way of Buddhist monks from China. Their popularity became so widespread that by the mid-1800s, kitties were frequently depicted in ukiyo-e, or Japanese woodblock prints. Artist Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1798–1861) was especially fond of cats and created a variety of illustrations where felines are the stars.

“[#otd 1961] The nine Freedom Riders and five regular passengers sat frozen to their seats as the mob shouted for the Freedom Riders to come out. Some tried to force open the door. this brought the two Alabama state investigators out from undercover – they ran to the front of the bus and braced themselves against the pull lever, holding the door shut. Enraged, the [white] mob began pounding on the bus with pipes and slashing the tires …. [The driver] revved the engine and backed up. The numb, terror stricken passengers, watched Anniston policemen move in from positions on the fringe of the crowd to direct the bus out of town, as though they had suddenly awaken to a traffic problem.”

Social studies standards for HS #US #history references baseless claims about ballot counting & mail voting security.
It says #students MUST "Identify discrepancies in #2020election results by looking at graphs & other information, including the sudden halting of ballot-counting in select cities & in key battleground states, the security risks of mail-in balloting, sudden batch dumps, an unforeseen record number of voters, & the unprecedented contradiction of 'bellwether county' trends."
