Solidarity South Florida<p>Spotted hanging on top of the sign for the Everglades Concentration Camp </p><p>Anarchists in south Florida are deeply conflicted about how to fight against this. Indigenous elders have decided to side with conservatives rednecks who do NOT want to speak badly about ICE. They are also coordinating everything with tribal police, who in turn coordinate with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. They keeping making statements about how their events are peaceful and “agitators” will not be welcome. </p><p>Miccosukee youth are not standing for it. They are organizing with an immigrants’ rights nonprofit from Imokolee, FL. While their rhetoric is much more intersectional, that is where our praise must end. They also coordinate with tribal police, who in turn coordinate with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. </p><p>Nevertheless, there are hints of radicalism which can grow. There are some Miccosukee youth who do not approve of working with the police, let alone the FBI, ICE, and whomever else the tribal police are coordinating with. </p><p>This is undoubtedly a lesson for many anarchists in South Florida, who have not made significant efforts to be a part of indigenous communities’ organizing since the Save the Briger Forest efforts a decade ago. Be part of communities’ everyday struggles, such that when the empire comes to crush them, you are ready to fight side-by-side.
